I get this question almost every week from doctors who want to market their medical practice online. Many physicians do not think they have anything worth talking about that other people would be interested in. My recommendations when composing a blog, is to write as if you were speaking to a client.

Keep your posts between 250 and 400 words. Teach them something about your product or service. Your followers will keep returning as long as you do not get too long winded. Do not include a sales pitch in your blog site or go on a rant about something. That is the quickest way to turn potential clients off.

Use your keywords in the title and throughout the post; however keep the flow of the blog natural. An image includes visual impact. Add Alt Tags on your images using your keywords. The search engines will see the Alt Tags and keep coming back for more.

You don’t need to publish on your medical blog site every day. Simply make your blog posts constant so the search engines and your readers understand when to come back. Depending on your medical practice, 3 posts a week may be enough.

There are many offsite blogs that you can use to enhance traffic back to your website. The most recognized one is WordPress.com. Remember to add a link to your medical site at the end of the blog post. You can produce many more back links to your medical site by sending your blog site to social networking and social news sharing websites.

When you teach your readers something and you will be shocked at the number of positive comments you get. Motivate individuals to discuss your blog site and see to it you respond to the remarks. Many times your followers will suggest something that could influence you to add a new service or product to your medical practice.
